Winter Arrives in Portland

Finally with the many clear days of arctic cold we have had the moisture came in to bring us the white stuff. Only a few inches in most places but enough to close schools and make for a fun snow filled day. This is our first winter at our new house and quickly we realized the benefits of living on a hill when it snows. Our street seemed to be a favorite of the area attracting sleds, tubes, skis, snowboards, and even the out of place kayak! I brought out my snowboard as well and made a few runs. It's not Mt Hood Meadows but sure beats a $59 lift ticket. Logan is in the green jacket. Enjoy the photos.

Larch Mt Hike

When Eric and Malia were out over the Holiday's we took a nice jaunt through the Columbia Gorge stopping for a couple short hikes and view points. They were nice enough to let me setup "shop" a couple times to take a few images. It ended with a nice sunset along the river on the way back.

Oaks Bottom

Here is a foggy morning down in Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. I like how you can tell the sky is clearing above with the blue reflecting on the water and yet still foggy in the distance. Nice to have such a place to walk through in the city. For those that don't know this is the largest wildlife natural area for a city within the states (a total of 140 acres).

Glacier View

This image was taken on a recent snowshoe trip through Glacier View trails on Mt Hood. It was a very nice crisp clear cold day. Becky and Tyler were nice enough to invite me to join them. First time doing this route and I am sure I will be back. The loop is about 3 to 4 miles depending on route taken with two spots that have a view of Mt Hood.

Logan: 1st B-Ball Game

Here are a couple images from Logan playing his first basketball game. He played well along with his team yet they did loose the game. One image is Logan just after releasing a shot and the other is him getting ready for a rebound after his teammate releases a shot.
